Most anticipated film since Dogma. Can't wait can't hate, I'll be late for that.

Apparently I missed a lot of important prior info but I don’t care I thought this was fantastic. Clearly not perfectly put together and my subtitles were scuffed to say the least but it looks so fucking good the whole time and tugs on your heart strings and has a stellar sci-fi premise and somehow does Evangelion and Ender’s Game at the same time and has spirit mechs fighting and pathos aliens and the music is amazing and Ami Koshimizu is wonderful and seriously this just fires on all cylinders all the time. I would fling myself into this story blind a hundred times over if I could

“There isn’t a world that exists that’s worth ending.”
One day you’ll get an essay from me on here all about all the feelings I feel about this beautiful thing but right now all that I’m coherent enough to get out is that I think this might be in my top ten now. Maybe even top five. This is absolutely my most flawed 10 and the one I spend the most time during thinking about the MANY little ways in which it could be even better, but what is here connects with me on a level deeper than almost any piece of media ever could. It’s like the biggest most compassionate most uplifting and hopeful hug, specifically for me and…

The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth.
It takes real balls to make a movie like this. Thank you, studio Bones for making my brain melt out of my ears in the first 10 minutes of watching this movie. For making a movie that is such a twist on the original, that I did not see it coming.
Eureka 7 Hi Evolution: Anemone is a brilliant and artistic reinterpretation of a classic 2000s anime. True to it’s name, this is a true evolution of the Eureka Seven series. This movie from start to finish takes what you though you knew about the original and the first hi evolution movie and turns it on its head. They heard…

Uh, what is this? I just don't know why this is what it is. Again, it doesn't seem approachable to newcomers, and seems designed to only make the older fans annoyed. It's got a lot of nonsense, sub Evangelion storytelling (not everything has to be like Eva, dudes!), and it trying it's hardest to be like the Rebuild movies, but it just doesn't make any sense, and it's hard to want to try and make sense of it.
Thankfully, it reuses clips from the show in a far better way, but is also about 85% new material, which automatically makes it better than part one... But then for some reason they decided to animate all of the child Anemone sections…

I’m probably overrating this just a little, but I cannot tell you how elated I am that I loved this as much as I did. Anemone being amazing has reinstated my faith in the universe after seeingPocketful of Rainbows. This is not only revolutionary compared to that film and Hi Evo 1, true to its name, it’s evolutionary to the original series. Having Dai Sato and Kenichi Yoshida back in the driver’s seats feels like coming home. Despite this being another alternate universe the characters finally feel like themselves again, while still being fresh new takes. Unlike Pocketfulthis actually does do very interesting things with the alternate universe concept and plays with both the original series and Hi Evolution 1…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
There is such an immense beauty to this film that I cannot put into words. Whoever thought Sci-Fi needed to be "deep" and "philosophical" and not just be about teenagers turning into lonely, dimension-destroying villains in an attempt to save a lost love? I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder.

One of the most truly refreshing anime movies I've seen in ages, even if it's because of my own quirky thoughts on what we should do with popular stories. It's even better than the first Hi-Evolution movie! In particular, I love a new twist on an old story, characters taken and placed in a new scenario to see how it plays out. Much of the complaining about this film is centered around it being so different from the TV show in story and tone, but that's precisely why I loved it so much. We miss such wonderful art by being unwilling to let them out of our tiny cognitive boxes.
The visuals are gorgeous. The way the story unfolds is…

I’m very prepared to accept that fact that this movie might make sense only to me and almost nobody else but I really don’t give a fuck. This might be the most me movie to ever exist thus far. The last 30ish minutes are literally just my brain on the screen. On a plot level shit does not connect and only like 30% of what I see and feel in the movie is actually explicitly in the text but that 70% that it trusts me to pick up is some of the hardest anything has ever connected to me. I can’t help but watch the final act with a giant dumbass grin and teary eyes. I don’t really care if I’m almost alone in loving this as much as I do, even if it exists only for me I’m elated. It’s kind of a miracle.
