When my daughters were in middle school, I started seeing homecoming and prom proposals all over Instagram. If you are unaware, teens don’t just ask their dates to the prom or homecoming dance, they propose in a more formal, wedding-proposal sort of style.
They “prompose”. Not only do they do this but they propose in elaborate ways to show their affection and to hopefully go viral.
This goes hand in hand with all the new baby and wedding hoopla that gained popularity in the social media world. The bigger the better. No longer is the actual wedding day good enough.
When you get married, you can have a proposal party, an engagement party, a wedding shower, lunches, bachelor and bachelorette parties, the rehearsal dinner, and the actual wedding. Oh, and don’t forget the honeymoon. It’s a lot, am I right?
The more lavish the parties, the bigger chance that lookers are “oohing” and “aahing”. The news might spread like wildfire on the internet, and that is what it’s all about sometimes.
Then, if you decide to have a baby, you can have a gender reveal, a babymoon, multiple baby showers…
